Resident Benefits
The residencies at JPS offer very competitive salaries and includes full coverage of medical and dental insurance premiums for residents and immediate family members. Salaries and further benefit details can be found by clicking here.
Salaries (effective August 1, 2016)
  • PGY 1: $55,299.20
  • PGY 2: $56,998.34
  • PGY 3: $61,080.68


Insurance   Medical and dental insurance are provided for the resident and immediate family members. JPS Health Network also provides disability and professional liability coverage.


Maternity/Paternity Leave  JPS grants maternity and paternity leave in accordance with the Family Medical Leave Act.


Educational Allowance

  • PGY 1: $1,000
  • PGY 2-5: $1,500 each year


Relocation Allowance   $1,500 provided for all new residents.



  • PGY 1: 17 calendar days PTO
  • PGY 2-3: 20 calendar days PTO and 5 days to attend educational activities

Wellness Activities

Habitat for Humanity Each year, our wellness faculty leader facilitates an opportunity for residents and faculty to work together on a local housing project for an underserved resident.
Shout Outs Residents, faculty, and/or other staff who demonstrate exemplary performance each week are acknowledged at resident conference in a casual setting that encourages recognition of those who have done something outstanding, or that goes “above-and-beyond”.
Wellness Weeks During each month that contains five Thursdays, the fifth Thursday is used as a “wellness week” that allows the residents a restful break from the usual learning environment, while still attending to their educational needs. Examples include trips to the zoo or botanical garden with a toxicologist, or pool-side education on work-life balance issues.
